Comments: We drive to Augrabies NP along a gravel road all the way to Khamkirri, and we will visit the Camel farm where they produce chocolate, skincare products etc. on route. We are staying on the orange river. We will do a Sunset Barge Cruise . The following day we visit the Augrabies falls and then head into Upington. Farewell dinner.

DAY ONE/TWO/THREE/FOUR – EXPEDITION DAY JHB to Kalahari

Welcome to SA! Your adventure begins. We will then depart EARLY (6am) on the 1st of June for a 7/8 hour road transfer to our accommodation. We will spend the next 4 days doing valuable conservation work and enjoy living on a 240 000-acre Big-5 and Malaria Free private game reserve in South Africa’s Kalahari Desert. The project offers a true perspective of African Wildlife’s problems and allows guests to give something back to the continent’s conservation efforts. Break free from tourists and time limits as you follow animals in their natural habitat in this once-in-a-lifetime conservation experience!

DAY FIVE– Kalahari to Van Zyls Rus

Today we drive to Van Zyls Rus for a night’s accommodation. The Kalahari is an unusual and vibrantly beautiful world, and you will be immersed in its flamboyant colours and mysterious beauty. The Van Zyls Rus boutique hotel is located in the village of Van Zylsrus. The village itself is quintessential Kalahari… small, remote, and serene; it lies on the banks of an ancient dry riverbed beside a huge red sand dune and is littered with iconic and gnarled Camelthorn trees.

DAY SIX/SEVEN/EIGHT/NINE/TEN/ELEVEN/TWELVE/THIRTEEN– Kgalagadi Area & Augrabies National Park

We move Westwards to the Kgalagadi Area. For the next eight nights, we will experience a true wilderness adventure in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. On this specially designed tour, we explore the salt pans and vegetated sand dunes of this isolated corner.  The journey will introduce you to rustic wild camping sometimes without fences or running water.  You can Look forward to magical sunsets, excellent game viewing and solitude in one of the top wildlife areas . This is not for the faint-hearted but for more adventurous souls and explorers with a good sense of fun. We will also explore the Augrabies National Park Area in this time. Few sights are as awesome or a sound as deafening as water thundering down the 56-m Augrabies Waterfall when the Orange River is in full flood. The Khoi people called it Aukoerebis, or place of Great Noise, as this powerful flow of water is unleashed from rocky surroundings characterized by the 18-km abyss of the Orange River Gorge.
