About Us

The Blue Sky Society Trust is more than an organisation dedicated to helping people and animals in need. For us and our supporters it’s a way of thinking and a way of acting. In the relatively short time we have been operating we have achieved a great deal.
We set our goals high and we aim for the stars. Blue Sky Society Trust began as most things do as an idea. A wish that good people would come together to make a positive difference in the lives of others.
Carla Geyser and her father believed that harnessing the power of others in a common goal would achieve many things. Most importantly those involved had to have a “can do” attitude. A rosy outlook in life because how can you change the world if you are always seeing the obstacles.
The concept – blue sky – has many modern interpretations – but for most of us the vast blue sky above us is a symbol of infinite possibility. No clouds, no storms and a panoramic view to the left and right.
Those of us who live in Africa we are very lucky to see the endless skies stretching above us. We can see that we have many opportunities to impact on others and make a meaningful difference.
For some people – the challenges that face ordinary people who live in a diverse culture like ours, can make them apathetic. They feed into the belief that they can’t change anything.
Ignoring problems and becoming insular and indifferent to the suffering of others is a common defence mechanism. Quite often the underlying emotion is – FEAR.
People often think … I don’t know what to do.
We believe that with enough heads together we can all find solutions. Choosing to face our fears head on is empowering and making a difference is incredibly rewarding.
Those of us who believe in the “Blue Sky Society Trust philosophy” – believe that together we CAN make things happen. We also believe that every small contribution can make a huge difference!
Just by thinking positively and being proactive, we are contributing to change for the better. We have big ideas and huge fundraising prospects, but ultimately the ripple of change begins with you and me getting involved.
The sky’s the limit for what we can achieve. Our vision is to identify and manage various projects where people can give of their time, expertise, ideas and funds to existing and new charities and support the valuable work they do.
We want to connect you with causes you are passionate about and together make a genuine difference in this beautiful place we call ‘Mamma Afrika’.
Blue Sky Society Trust aims to concentrate on making people aware of the importance of conservation, but to only focus on conservation would be to ignore human suffering. So we do both.
To help those in need is a primary ideal for Blue Sky Society Trust and where we can identify worthwhile causes we will step in and take up the torch.
This past year we have strived to offer proactive solutions to elephant killing supporting those charities that are at the coalface.
We have also improved the development conditions of children in the less fortunate communities by raising funds for various projects. We put shoes on the feet of some children who had never owned a new pair of shoes.
We gave hope and inspiration to the girls who often miss school because they have no sanitary protection to cope with menstruation. For some this gift was more than the gift packs but a chance to understand their bodies.
For one Crèche a donation completely transformed a humble school staffed by volunteers into a worthy institution equipped to care for young toddlers.
There is no end to what we can achieve if we keep our heads up and look towards the horizon. Donor participation, support and community involvement is crucial to our success.
“I can see clearly now the rain has gone.
I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind
Gonna be a bright – bright – sunshine-y day!”

Andries Geyser, a leading attorney and my father is a very wiseman. Growing up he always use to encourage us to have a positive attitude. After many years that is why when it came to naming my non-profit organization it was a no brainer…“Blue Sky Society Trust”

‘Real strength lies not in having and holding, but in giving.’ I believe that the ‘hallmark’ of a good relationship is where each partner brings out the best in the other. That is a simple test. And it can apply to business partnerships or to our private lives. But it starts with ourselves. Our own attitude and approach to life is important. Happiness impacts positively on all domains of our lives. I am the ‘Self appointed World President of the Blue Sky Society, the object of which is to bring out the happiness in everyone.

Membership is free and you don’t have to fill in any forms to become a member. All you have to do is to bring out the happiness in yourself. You remain a member for as long as you are happy and positive. You automatically suspend yourself when you become negative and allow yourself to become unhappy. Fundamentally it is not what happens to you, it is how you respond to it. Happiness is there for you to take out of any situation. Nothing can be so bad that it can’t get worse – unless of course that you respond to it with happiness.’ – Andries Geyser

Our Vision is to support, educate and build bridges between communities through sustainable fundraising and to promote the spirit of volunteerism.
